A water main break at 56th Terrance and N. Indiana in Gladstone shot an impressive display of water into the air early Tuesday morning.
Neighbors say the water was so powerful and strong, it hit their homes and nearby power lines.
This was one of two breaks in Gladstone Tuesday morning. Another was reported near Englewood and Pursell.
Sgt. Richard King with Gladstone Public Safety said the breaks were probably not related, and they didn’t know for certain what caused the breaks. King said since the metro is coming off a dry period, the ground pulls away and shrinks up. Then with all the rain Monday night, the ground swells and shifts, causing the mains to break.
