ATCHISON, Kan. — It’s considered a national treasure, and on Thursday it will honor Atchison Police Sergeant David Enzbrenner, who lost his life in the line of duty on Friday, Dec. 9. His funeral will be held in Atchison on Thursday morning.

The U.S. Honor Flag arrived at Kansas City’s International Airport shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The flag is a single American flag that was brought to New York immediately after the devastation of 9/11. It was flown during the recovery efforts and remained in the New York City area until the mass memorial services for families of the Port Authority Police were held. It was then recommended by a widow that the flag continue to fly to honor the fallen heroes of our nation.
