KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Mexican citizen pleaded guilty on Wednesday afternoon in Jackson County Court to two counts of involuntary manslaughter for causing a crash that killed a Belton, Mo., mother and daughter on the Fourth of July on I-435 near 63rd Street.

Felix Solano-Gallardo, 19, faces up to 35 years in prison for driving drunk and slamming head-on into 44-year-old Diane Bronson’s car, killing Bronson and her 11-year-old daughter, Anna.

Police say he had been driving the wrong way for 14 miles, first on I-70 and then on I-435 and his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit. His sentencing hearing is set for March.

Buddy Bronson told the court that his wife and daughter were inseparable, and says the only justice in the tragic case may be that they died together.

Solano-Gallardo, who does not have documentation to be in the United States, refused to tell police his name after the accident and has identified himself since then as both Felix Solano-Gallardo and Luis Solano-Gallardo.

He will serve his prison sentence and then be deported to Mexico.
