THE GREY

SHAWN
Here's the deal. In the immortal words of the great Dr. Dre I'm going to take you on a ride you've never been on before. Now listen closely. "The Grey" starring Liam Nesson is a riveting masterpiece. Yes, sir 'the Grey' is masterfully enthralling and crackles with thunderous heart-pounding intensity. It's as moving as it is a cinematically stylistic and bold.
RUSS
It's man against nature as plane carrying a group of oil rig workers crashes in remote Alaska and the survivors are hunted down by a ravenous pack of wolves. This chilling and well made horror flick is a cerebral art film masquerading as a thriller.
SHAWN
Liam Neeson is electrifying. And, yes, he's this generation's action dude. Mr. Schindler has already gotten busy in "Taken" "Unknown" "The A-Team" and "Clash of the Titans." And it's good to see. He's two seconds shy of 60, a real thespian and not girly handsome. He's rugged. Tough. And believable. Sure he can survive a plan crash. Yes, frost bite ain't nothing but a thing. And of course he can fight wolves with his bare hands. And you'll buy in because dude makes you believe.
RUSS
Warning: The horrific R-rated events are an ordeal to sit through and the movie's worldview is very, very bleak.
SHAWN
"The Grey" is an allegory about the meaning of life. Yes, this movie and "Tree of Life" are about the same thing. But "The Grey" isn't a visually abstract cinematic experience. It's a countdown movie and pseudo slasher flick. It takes guts to watch "The Grey" and an extra coat. I got chilly just watching. Yes, the scenes are that wintry and Liam Neeson really is that icy.
RUSS
It's as thoughtful and riveting as it is hard to watch.

MAN ON A LEDGE

SHAWN
"Man on a Ledge" is a serious one-trick pony. Think "Phone Booth." Well maybe not. " "Man on a Ledge" is a much better film. And if you buy into the paper thin concept "Man on a Ledge" will thrill you.

RUSS
If you can get past the corny elements of this unbelievable and contrived thriller, you might actually have fun.
SHAWN
The biggest problem with "Man on a Ledge" is it develops a little too slowly. However, the final 30-minutes are worthy of watching the throne. Things get cray.

RUSS

It’s slick Hollywood hokum undermined by lapses in logic.

A DANGEROUS METHOD
SHAWN
Old-fashioned, well made and terrificly acted. But uninteresting and boring. And way too many holes to take seriously.RUSS

A beautiful mental patient comes between Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung.  Strangely, the film isn’t nearly as compelling as its subjects and scandalous subject matter.SHAWN

ALBERT NOBBS
SHAWN
Dude looks like a lady or lady looks like a dude. Strong performances, meandering plot. Glenn Close deserves props. The movie doesn't.
RUSS
Close plays a woman posing as a man in 19th Century Ireland in this very odd and melancholy flick.
