Chefs Trade Knives for Chainsaws to Create Ice Sculptures
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Some Kansas City chefs traded their pots and pans for chainsaws and chisels on Saturday. About 20 sculptors wowed shoppers with their cool carvings on Saturday.
The chefs take big chunks of ice and turn it into something creative. Jeff Addison started with a 300 pound block of ice. After 14 years of experience, he has honed his craft.
This was the ninth year for the carving contest. In addition to cash prizes, the winning carving will be displayed in the Ballroom Foyer of the historic Muehlebach Hotel where hundreds of restaurateurs will view the masterpieces before attending the 2011 GKCRA Inaugural Ball.
