Boy’s Condition Upgraded After Freak Accident

SHAWNEE, Kan. — A 12-year-old boy is in good condition after a strange accident in which a woman lost control of her car, struck another car which then slammed into him in his own front yard Monday afternoon at 70th & Richards.

Hospital officials tell FOX 4 that Isaac Mannica is improving. A  62-year-old woman had a possible medical condition, lost control and hit a parked car. The parked car was knocked into the 12-year-old boy on January 17th.

Capt. Dan Tennis with the Shawnee Police says a man across the street saw the woman’s car coming and yelled at the kids to get out of the way. The boy was with his little sisters when he was struck.

He was transported to the hospital with a head injury where he remains in critical condition. The driver was taken to an area hospital to be checked out as well.
