Rare Diamond Donated to Salvation Army Sold
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An antique diamond dropped into a Salvation Army kettle in December sold on eBay for $6,300. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit the Kansas City-area Salvation Army.
Meierotto’s in the Northland appraised the diamond for the Salvation Army, saying it’s a .83 carat old European cut diamond. The style of the cut is not used any more, so Meierotto’s says it’s likely this was a family heirloom and could be as much as 100 years old.
Meierotto’s designed a white gold setting for the ring which includes side diamonds totally .50 carats.
