FOX 4 Cost Cutters: Slash Your Valentine’s Day Bill
Overland Park, Kan. – Showing how you feel about the one you love really adds up! According to the National Retail Federation, Americans are expected to shell out more than $17 billion dollars for the upcoming holiday. That’s about $125 a person. Here are two ways you can save on treats in the future.
- The Pastry Shop Johnson County Community College. Students enrolled in the program sell their creations every Friday on campus. For Valentine’s Day they are serving up everything from chocolate-covered strawberries to deserts for two. And Valentine’s Day isn’t even their most popular time! They sell every Friday that the school is open for classes. The creations include cheesecakes, cookies, five types of torts and 10 kinds of breads. Click here for more information.
- The Floral Design Program at Johnson County Community College. Students enrolled in this program get a feel for what it’s like to work in a floral shop. The quality of work is the same as what you would find at other locations … but prices are less. There is a limited quantity, and delivery is not offered.
