RAEFORD, North Carolina —  Parents in North Carolina are upset over officials making a big deal over healthy lunches. A state worker in Hoke County fed a preschooler chicken nuggets for lunch after feeling that the child’s homemade lunch didn’t have enough nutritional value, according to a report by the Carolina Journal.

The state employee was inspecting lunch boxes. The student’s lunch included a turkey and cheese sandwich,  a banana, apple juice and potato chips. The lunch “did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines,” the Carolina Journal reports.

The student’s mother told the Journal she received a note from the school about the incident and was charged $1.25 for the cafeteria tray, from which her daughter ate three chicken nuggets.
