COLUMBIA, Mo. — After first handing Missouri it’s first loss of the season back in early January, the Kansas State Wildcats completed their regular season Big 12 sweep of the league front runners with a 78-68 win in Columbia Tuesday night.

Riding a first half where Kansas State’s offense ran almost to perfection, the Wildcats led by ten points at the half, 40-30. After trailing by as many as 16 in the second half, Missouri mounted a comeback behind some aggressive defensive play and some hot 3-point shooting. But the Tigers could get no closer than four points, and Kansas State pulled away and won by ten. K-State (19-8, 8-7) has now knocked off two A-P top 10 teams in the last 4 days.

The Wildcats were led by Junior guard Rodney McGruder’s 24 points. Missouri was led by Michael Dixon who had 21 points. Missouri (25-3, 12-3) now has one home game left, hosting Iowa State next week.

The Missouri loss now means a Kansas win over Texas A&M on Wednesday, coupled with a Kansas win over Missouri on Saturday clinches at least a tie for first place in the Big 12 standings for Kansas.

Kansas and Missouri’s final meeting as members of the same conference will take place Saturday afternoon at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence.
