FORT LEAVENWORTH, Kan. — A person drove through a security gate at the Fort Leavenworth Army Post around 7 a.m. Thursday.
Rebecca Steed, Fort Leavenworth’s public information officer, said the driver was first barred from entering the post. After not being allowed entry, the driver refused to follow security measures and drove through the gate. Security forces deployed a barrier to stop the driver. The driver hit the barrier, but was stopped from making further access
Fort Leavenworth has not released the reason the person was barred from entering, however Steed said there are a number of reasons a person may be denied entry. Some offenses include shoplifting, disorderly conduct and DUI.
The gate has now been reopened.
