Cat Saves Life

GREEN BAY, Wisc. — It was an impulse decision, adopting two cats one Wednesday afternoon in February — but it saved one woman’s life.

Amy Jung and her son Ethan only planned to play with the cats at The Humane Society in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, the Green Bay Press Gazette reports. But a 21-pound orange-and-white cat named Pudding stole their hearts. Jung adopted Pudding and his friend, Wimsy, on a whim.

Pudding and Wimsy settled in to their new home quickly. But later that night, Jung, who has had diabetes since childhood, started to have a diabetic seizure in her sleep.

Pudding to the rescue!

The fat feline sat on Jung’s chest and nudged and nipped her face until she briefly woke up. Jung called for her son, but he didn’t hear her. So Pudding took off running, darting into Ethan’s room and pouncing on the sleeping boy. After Ethan woke and became aware of the situation, he called for help.

Jung credits Pudding with saving her life. She told the Press Gazette that without Pudding, she wouldn’t have made it through the night. Her doctors agreed.

Pudding has since become a registered therapy animal. Jung said he sits at her feet and meows when he senses her blood sugar is low.
