Woman Saves Driver Who Flipped Her Off
CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. – A Florida woman helped a mother and daughter escape from their burning car on Monday, even after the mother apparently flipped off the woman just moments before she crashed.
Kristyn Dominy says she was heading home with her baby in the car Monday evening when a woman sped past her along a winding road, driving erratically.
About 30 seconds later, Dominy says she noticed black smoke up ahead and when she turned the corner, she saw the woman’s jeep in flames.
“My first thought when I came around the corner and saw that her vehicle was on fire, I was thinking karma, but the same time, I could never….” Dominy said. “Even though she flicked me off down the road, I could never just sit there and watch that happen.”
Dominy says the woman was on fire and struggling to get her daughter out of the burning car.
“I don’t know how I didn’t get burned or anything because I took the seatbelt off of her and told her to get on the ground and roll to get the fire off of her because her clothes were on fire.”
Then Dominy put the mother and daughter in her car to get them away from the fire and called 911. The mother and daughter were flown to a nearby hospital. Investigators are working to determine what caused the car to catch fire. Dominy says she doesn’t consider herself a hero; she says she just did the right thing.
