K-State Student Killed in Colorado Ski Accident
DENVER — A 19-year-old Kansas State University student was killed in a skiing accident at a Colorado ski resort over the weekend, authorities said.
According to the report from KMAN-AM radio in Manhattan, Garrett Spencer was skiing with three friends at the Wolf Creek ski area in southwest Colorado on Saturday morning when he lost control and hit a tree. The ski patrol tried CPR on the scene, but were unable to revive Spencer.
Authorities say that Spencer, a novice skier, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. An autopsy is planned for Monday, but final results could take months to finish.
Spencer was a sophomore majoring in business administration, KMAN reports.
