Complete Metro Election Results
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Voters across the metro area went to the polls on Tuesday, deciding a number of issues including police funding in Independence as well as dozens of other questions.
Independence voters gave a resounding “no” vote to a property tax increase to help pay for more police officers, with 72 percent of voters rejecting the measure. The tax hike would have increased property taxes in the city around $0.36 per $100 of assessed value, and would raise about $3.7 million a year to fund an additional 42 police positions over the next three years.
