LENEXA, Kan. -- A Kansas magazine for teen girls just received a national nod. Premier Studios' SUSIE Magazine has been named a Top 10 finalist in the "Get on the Shelf" contest hosted by WalmartLabs. Each finalist is competing for a chance to be sold in select Walmart stores throughout their region.

More than 4,000 inventors, entrepreneurs and small businesses from across the country submitted products into the contest. According to Premier Studios, over a million people cast their vote for the items they want to see in Walmart stores.

"The Top 10 finalists represent the smart and inspirational products that Walmart customers want to see on the shelf online and in their local stores," said Chris Bolte, vice president of WalmartLabs. "We have been inspired by the creativity and passion of the contestants as they promote their products through traditional media, social marketing and personal networks."

SUSIE Magazine is filled with inspiration. It focuses on topics important to teen girls and encourages them to actively engage in their Christian faith.

“We want teen girls to know how incredibly valuable they are,” said Susie Shellenberger, editor-in-chief, SUSIE Magazine. “A teen girl with an unshakable faith, healthy self-image and genuine confidence is an energizing, world-changing force.”

After a final round of voting is completed, the three winning products will have the opportunity to be sold on Walmart.com and the grand prize winner will get the chance to be carried in select Walmart stores.

Currently, SUSIE Magazine is a bimonthly magazine available by subscription only. And although some of their content can be accessed via their website, Heather Knight, the magazine's executive director, wants to put the printed copy it in the hands of more young women.

"An estimated 300,000 teen girls purchase magazines from Walmart stores each year," she said. "Girls are without a Christian lifestyle option on the magazine aisle. Our goal is to change that."

Voting begins April 11 and runs through midnight on April 24. Voters can vote twice each day online and once by texting 4959 to 383838. Cast your online vote for SUSIE Magazine here.
