Boy Charged in Raytown Middle School Rape
RAYTOWN, Mo. — A 16-year-old boy faces rape charges for an incident that happened on February 27 involving a 13-year-old girl at Raytown Middle School.
The boy, who was 15 at the time, is accused of pulling the girl into a room or closet on her way to class. Police said the boy allegedly grabbed the girl’s hair and pushed her onto some mats where he sexually assaulted her. He now faces forcible sodomy and forcible rape charges.
On Monday, law enforcement officers took the 16-year-old into custody. He is currently being held in the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center pending further hearings. A detention hearing will be held Wednesday to determine whether the juvenile will continue to be held in secure detention.
Due to the nature of the charges filed, pursuant to Missouri law, a hearing will be held later to determine whether the juvenile will be tried as an adult.
