THE VOW (PG-13)

How's this for a premise? A young married couple get in an auto accident that leaves the wife, played by Rachel McAdams, with amnesia. The husband, played by Channing Tatum, has to try to get her to fall in love with him again. Sounds like the kind of thing that a sentimental romance novelist like Nicholas Sparks would come up with, but it's actually loosely based on a true story.

The fact that it's a true story helps and hurts. If this story was based on real-life events it would be hard to believe. but because it is a non-fiction story it can't stray far from the facts and play like one of those overly sappy Nicholas sparks movies. But I loved the realism. Don't get it twisted. This is still a pretty sappy love story and plays well due to the extreme amount of chemistry between Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum.

The capable cast helps compensate for the movie's hokey elements, making this one likable chick flick.SHAWN
I hate that term and wouldn't classify "The vow" as a chick flick. I enjoyed the movie and think it's actually perfect for anyone who has ever been in love. At least that what it says on the DVD cover. The extras will include a commentary with the director, a Leo and Paige at a Concert featurette, and a gag reel. The Blu-ray release will also include 3 additional featurettes.

The Underworld franchise isn't ready for the retirement home just yet but it's aging and rapidly. Not nearly as exciting as the first few films. This installment is short on story. It's just wall to wall action and not a single quiet moment.

Having escaped years of imprisonment, our heroine finds herself in a changed world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species. Yes, Kate Beckinsale still rocks. Just wish she would demand a better script but the action never lacks and looks really cool.

The only extra material on the DVD release will be a filmmakers commentary. The Blu-ray releases will also include a few featurettes, a blooper reel, and a "Heavy Prey" Music Video by Lacey Sturm feat. Geno Lenardo. Russ didn't screen.
