Kids Learn Bike Safety at Bike Rodeo
KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A metro organization wants to make sure kids are safe this summer as they hit the pavement on their bikes. The KCK Kiwanis Club held a bike rodeo at Schlitterbahn Water Park on Saturday.
Kids were able to ride through obstacle courses to put their skills to the test when it comes to the rules of the road. Doctors say the number one tip for bike safety is to make sure your child’s bike helmet fits properly.
Experts were at Saturday’s event to help with that.
“Make sure that the helmet hits the top of his forehead and make sure it fits the skull. when you put it over your ears it has to form a v-shape,” said Keith Jones with Atmos Energy. “When you put it underneath make sure you can just barely get your fingers under there.”
Atmos Energy and the Kiwanis Club passed out nearly 250 helmets to kids.
