Rapids Force 2-2 Draw with Sporting KC
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Sporting Kansas City couldn’t reverse their recent struggles on Saturday night, after letting the Colorado Rapids storm back to force a 2-2 draw at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
Sporting KC (7-3-1) watched their two-goal halftime lead slip away, and missed out on a chance to break their three-game losing streak.
Forward Teal Bunbury gave Sporting KC a 1-0 lead with his first of two goals on the day, an electrifying header in the first minute of play. It was also Bunbury’s first two goals of the season.
The Rapids (5-6-1) embarked on a ferocious second half comeback. Defender Kosuke Kimura capped Colorado’s rally with his first goal of the season, an equalizer in the 60th minute.
This was Sporting KC’s first draw of the season. They return to Livestrong Sporting Park on Sunday to take on the San Jose Earthquakes (7-2-3).
