America has voted, choosing Phillip Phillips as the next American Idol. (And, yes, that's his real name.)
The 21-year-old musician, known for his shy and humble nature, proved himself a star with his earthy voice along with nimble guitar fingers. During American Idol's season 11, Phillips never placed in the bottom three.
Phillips grew up in Sasser and Leesburg, Georgia. Before American Idol, Phillips worked at his father's pawn shop. During his audition in Savannah, Georgia, Phillips was the last to perform and sang a Stevie Wonder hit then broke out his guitar and wowed the judges.
Phillips now has his own song "Home." Watch his American Idol performance of it below.
