Dog That Trekked From Colorado to Kansas Headed Home
BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. — A dog found on the side of the Kansas Turnpike last week will return hundreds of miles home to where he belongs in Colorado.
Thankfully, the English Bulldog mix named Chumley was microchipped. After some digging, a Bonner Springs Animal Control volunteer found his owners. Chumley was taken to Midwest Animal Rescue in Lake Lotawana and will be transported back to his family in Colorado on Pet-Ex, a transport service for dogs.
“Someone contacted me and asked about his story because today was the day he was to be released and if he didn’t have a home, sadly, he’d be put to sleep,” said Darath Smith, the Rescue volunteer.
Chumley was gone from his Colorado home for about four months and is healthy, except for a little road rash.
