KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Jumping out to a 2-0 lead early, Sporting Kansas City dominated Toronto FC at Livestrong Sporting Park on Saturday night.

Forward C.J. Sapong struck first in the 11th minute, giving Sporting KC a 1-0 lead. In the 34th minute, defender Julio Cesar scored an electrifying goal thanks to a corner kick assist from midfielder Graham Zusi to make it 2-0 before the half.

With the win, Sporting KC (9-3-1) leapfrogged the New York Red Bulls (8-3-2) for second place in the Eastern Conference. Toronto FC (1-10-0) remains in last.

Sporting KC hits the road to take on Seattle Sounders FC (7-4-3) on Wednesday night at Qwest Field.
