Charter Task Force to Hold Public Hearing

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The 2012 Jackson County Charter Task Force chaired by Dianne Cleaver will hold a public hearing Thursday, June 21 at 5:30 p.m. in the Legislative Chamber of the Courthouse Annex at 308 West Kansas in Independence, Missouri 64050.

Joining Chairperson Dianne Cleaver on the Task Force are Dana M. Altieri, Buford L. Farrington, Gayle Holliday, James T. Nunnelly, Paul G. Rojas, Bruce VanCompernolle and Dr. Robert E. Hertzog and Becky Nace as alternate members.

The members of the Charter Task Force will review the issues of term limits and campaign finance in Jackson County elections; as well as state and county procedures for filing for elective office. In making any appropriate recommendations for amendments to the 2010 Jackson County Constitutional Home Rule Charter this Task Force will consider and be guided by the advice of the County Counselor in regard to constitutional limitations on charter powers.

The public hearing is intended for Jackson County residents to have the opportunity to make comments and suggestions directly to Task Force members. For those interested in having their voice heard but unable to attend the public hearing, comments can be sent via email to: chartercommission@jacksongov.org. The Task Force will hold a second public hearing Wednesday, July 11 at 5 p.m. in the Legislative Chamber of the Jackson County Courthouse at 415 East 12th Street in Kansas City, Missouri 64106.
