KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The calendar reads 18 days until Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game comes to Kansas City.
The most-coveted team award in big league baseball is on display now on the Country Club Plaza.
The commissioner’s trophy is on display at Tiffany and Company on Nichols Road. The sterling silver trophy is worth about $15,000, and Tiffany creates the trophy each year for Major League Baseball’s World Champions.
“It is remarkable,” Melinda Petet, Tiffany Store Director said.
“We haven’t had a World Series game or an All-Star game here in a long time, so it’s nice to have a piece of that history here, especially when Tiffany can be a part of it. We started making the trophy back in 2000, so it’s an honor to have it here in this store.”
The Kansas City Royals have only won the World Series trophy once, when they upset the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1985 edition of the Fall Classic.
The trophy should be on display at Tiffany throughout the All-Star Game festivities. MLB’s All-Star Game will be played at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday, July 10th.
