THE ARTIST (PG-13)
(The Weinstein Company)

A true Valentine to the movies, “The Artist” is much more than just homage to the early days of cinema. Shot in black and white and mostly silent, this outstanding comic drama about early Hollywood is packed with style, wit and heart. It’s a wildly entertaining and rewarding movie experience that deservedly won the Oscar for Best Picture.
SHAWN
Not sure “The Artist” deserved to win Best Picture but it was a fun and daring movie that worked. It has a charm that’s completely infectious and intoxicating. You can’t help but have fun while watching. Well acted and well directed and a terrific score that will stay stuck in your head for days. OK, maybe it did deserve to win the Oscar for Best Picture.

This reboot of the old Johnny Depp TV series is a sporadically funny and often vulgar buddy cop flick. It manages to generate a few shameless laughs, most of which we can’t talk about because they’re ‘surprises.’
The story and pace meander, but Hill and Tatum are fairly likable. For undemanding audiences who are happy with a few chuckles from incorrigible behavior, “21 Jump Street” will suffice.SHAWN
“21 Jump Street” is hilarious because the movie pokes fun at the cheesy 80s TV cop show. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum crush it together. The two got sick chemistry together and serious comedic timing. The tone is just fun and it’s all very playful and entertaining.RUSS

If “cute” is a word that turns you off, then “Mirror Mirror” is not for you. It’s a tongue-in-cheek comedy that focuses on the story from the evil queen’s perspective. Armie Hammer is the clueless Prince and Lily Colllins plays the lovely Snow White who learns to kick some backside. This lively, clever and slightly goofy lark is similar in tone to “The Princess Bride.” It ain’t your mother’s “Snow White,” but it’s a likable, cheeky reboot.
SHAWN
“Mirror Mirror” is overly campy and way too over the top. It aims for fun and lands squarely in the silly department.

WRATH OF THE TITANS (PG-13)
(Warner Brothers)
RUSS
Sam Worthington returns as the Greek demigod Perseus in the sequel to the 2010 sword-and-sandal epic “Clash of the Titans.” In “Wrath of the Titans,” Perseus is called upon to save his father, Zeus, played by Liam Neeson. The visuals are stunning and it’s slightly better than the original, but the tired script and blur of action sap the movie of any real dramatic tension or sense of fun. Zeus should have conjured up better writers.
SHAWN
This may be the most pointless sequel ever. The first movie was garbage and this one is worst.
