Woman Describes Car Crash, Baby Thrown from Vehicle
Car crashes into salon at Gregory and Prospect in Kansas City, Mo., on Wednesday, June 27, 2012.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A two-year-old twin girl was thrown from a vehicle after it crashed into a salon Wednesday morning.
The accident happened near Gregory and Prospect in Kansas City, Mo., around 8:30 a.m. Police said a van traveling south on Prospect was struck in the intersection by a car traveling west on Gregory. An employee inside the salon said she had just finished with a customer when the wall came crashing in.
“I heard a screech of tires, so as I’m walking towards the door, I see the Gregory side [of the building] coming in at me,” said Gloria Stevens, salon employee.
She said after the chaos subsided she realized a child had been ejected from the vehicle.
“I went to the door, and I saw a little baby down on the ground,” she said.
At first, Gloria said the baby wasn’t moving.
“Then I saw a lady pick her up, and when she picked her up, that’s when the baby started crying,” she said.
A female driver, two-year-old twins and another child inside the van were taken to the hospital — all with minor injuries, despite the fact that one of the twins was ejected from the vehicle. The other driver, a male, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
