Mizzou Guards Drafted in 2nd Rd. by Pistons, Spurs
NEWARK, N.J. — In the second round of the NBA Draft on Thursday night, Missouri senior guards Kim English and Marcus Denmon both heard their names called.
English, a 6-6 shooting guard from Baltimore, was selected 44th overall by the Detroit Pistons. He averaged 14.5 points per game his senior year for the Tigers.
Denmon, a 6-3 shooting guard from Kansas City, Mo., was taken 59th overall by the San Antonio Spurs. Denmon averaged 17.7 points in his senior season.
This year, Denmon was a member of the All-Big 12 first team. English was named to the All-Big 12 third team. They helped fuel and propel one of the greatest Missouri basketball squads ever, leading the Tigers to a Big 12 Tournament Championship and a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
