A Difficult Memory From Independence Day 2011
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Many who loved an 11-year-old girl are remembering her this July 4th.
Last year, Blair Shanahan Lane was shot in the neck while playing with fireworks with her cousins. She was at an uncle’s house at 43rd and Pittman in Kansas City.
Police say the bullet that hit her came across from an apartment complex several blocks away, traveling across a lake and through a wooded area.
Prosecutors charged Aaron Sullivan, 50, with involuntary manslaughter in Blair’s death.
Sullivan, who owned the gun, acknowledged that he and others fired it during Independence Day festivities.
Below is a report from last July after Blair was killed.
