Royals Closer Broxton Trails in All-Star Votes
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City will be the focus of the Major League Baseball world next week as they host the 2012 All-Star game. But the Royals are fighting to give their fans more to root for than their obligatory one representative.
For the second year in a row the Royals have a player participating in the vote for the final American League spot.
Royals closer Jonathan Broxton has turned heads this season while stepping in for injured All-Star Joakim Soria. With a flair for theatrics, Broxton has converted on 20 of 23 saves with a 2.05 era.
Broxton currently sits in 4th place with Rangers Pitcher Yu Darvish leading the way. Voting ends today at 3:00pm.
The Royals last received multiple All-Stars in 2003–also their most recent winning season.
