Frank White Painting Auctioned By Well-Known Muralist

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Alexander Austin, a man with an interesting story and a talent for murals was named “Home Town Heroes Artist of the Year” by Major League Baseball for the All-Star Game.

Austin is a former homeless man who lived at the City Union Mission.

He auctioned off a painting of Frank White during a VIP reception Friday afternoon.

Austin is known for many well-known Kansas City murals on the sides of buildings, including in the Power and Light District.

He currently has a gallery showing at Missouri Bank in the Crossroads District.
