Show ‘Em KC! Fans Swarm to the Home Run Derby

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Gates opened for the All-Star Home Run Derby at about 4:00 p.m. Monday and fans were ready!

MLB.com jokes that “Those poor fountains won’t know what hit ’em.”

Although there are no Royals team members participating, thousands of fans are turning out for the chance to catch a long ball.

Robinson Cano, Jose Bautista, Mark Trumbo, and Prince Fielder represent the American League, while Carlos Beltran, Matt Kemp, Andrew McCutchen and Carlos Gonzalez are there for the National.

The competition will begin with a performance from American Idol winner David Cook. He was on the FOX 4 Morning Show on Monday. Click here to see that visit!

The real winner of the competition will be the charities. The winning team’s charity will receive $150,000, while the losing team’s charity will receive $25,000.
