KC Zoo to Host All-Star Game Watch Party
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Some might argue the best seats for the All-Star Game aren’t at Kauffman Stadium. Mayor Sly James and the city council are hosting five community watch parties around Kansas City on Tuesday night.
The Kansas City Zoo will host a unique watch party where you can check out the sea lions as well as well as the baseball games. One fan says she’s excited to have the opportunity to watch the game with fellow fans.
“I could’ve stayed at home and watched it by myself,” said Jamie Wellman. “It’s not the same as coming out and watching the game with other fans, Royals’ fans. It’s as close as I can get to being in the actual atmosphere.”
The zoo has set up a tent where staff will be grilling and there is also a jumbo t-v for baseball fans.
There are also bleachers for fans, but party goers can bring blankets and lawn chairs.
Zoo director Randy Wisthoff says guests will be able to enjoy some animal exhibits and are even having a sea-lion show before the big game.
He says he’s delighted to be able to host the zoo’s first ever watch party at this one-of-a-kind place.
“Where else can you see a polar bear and watch a baseball game?” Wisthoff said. “We were happy to be chosen.”
It’s free to attend the watch party.
