KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Sherwood Family Recreation Center in Kansas City’s Northland is planning fundraisers to help deal with its financial crisis.

The non-profit local facility provides public leisure and generous group discounts to community charity organizations. But the pool has recently been hit with a large water bill and is also in need of some repairs.

“We have leaks and stuff that needs to be done in the big pool so the cost to repair that is well over $200,000 and since we’re not-for-profit we can’t afford it,” said Kimberly Downs, volunteer pool manager.

Each Friday night from 5pm-9pm is family fun night, with a discounted $1 admission fee and $4 for a meal.

Saturday August 11th, they will be hosting an Adult Night Pool Party at 6pm. Tickets are $20 for one and $30 for two and include food catered from El Torito II and Christopher Elbow Glace ice cream.
