BALTIMORE — Rookie phenom Manny Machado went yard twice, and the Baltimore Orioles cruised to a 7-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals in Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Friday night.

After several great starts by Royals pitchers as of late, Luke Hochevar bucked the trend on Friday night. Hochevar (7-10, 5.32 ERA) gave up seven runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings, striking out two and walking two.

The 20-year-old Machado hit two home runs in his second career Major League start. His first HR was a solo blast to left in the fifth inning. In the sixth, he crushed a three-run jack to the same spot. In fact, the same kid that caught Machado’s first HR also caught his second.

Catcher Salvador Perez gave the Royals (48-64, 27-32 away) an early 1-0 lead after a solo HR in the second inning, his seventh HR this season.

With the win, the Orioles (61-52, 29-27 home) snapped the Royals’ three-game winning streak.

Two right-handed pitchers square off on Saturday night as Luis Mendoza (5-8, 4.36 ERA) takes the hill against Chris Tillman (5-1, 2.38 ERA) for game three in Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
