Freightquote.com Breaks Ground on New $44M Headquarters
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Officials and representatives of Freightquote.com broke ground for the company’s new headquarters building in south Kansas City on Tuesday morning as the company gets ready to move across the state line into Missouri.
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, along with local officials attended the groundbreaking ceremony near the intersection of Carondelet and Glen Arbor roads in south Kansas City.
Freightquote.com, the nation’s largest online shipping broker, announced earlier this month that they would be moving their headquarters from Lenexa across the state line to Kansas City. To help facilitate the move, the state of Missouri says that they will be chipping in some incentives, including $7 million in Missouri Build funds and $26.2 million in Quality Jobs tax credits.
According to the company, Freightquote.com plans to create 1,225 new Missouri jobs within the next three years, and an additional 125 new Missouri jobs in the fourth year, bringing the company’s total employment in the Show-Me State to 1,350.
The company’s new $44 million, 200,000 square foot headquarters is expected to be completed by next May.
