Intestinal Outbreak Closes Rosehill Elementary School
LENEXA, Kan. — An elementary school in the Shawnee Mission School District will close on Thursday because of sickness. The school district reports a significant number of students at Rosehill Elementary school in Lenexa are suffering from a gastrointestinal illness.
Officials have decided to close school for staff and students on August 16 to prevent the outbreak from spreading. The custodial staff will thoroughly clean the building to help the problem.
The Johnson County Health Department recommends vigorous hand washing to help prevent the spread of sickness. The symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea.
It’s also recommended that if anyone in your family has been ill or exhibiting these symptoms, be sure they stay home from school or work until they have been symptom free for at least 24 hours.
