New Program Brings Awareness To Gang Activity
KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A new initiative is underway in KCK to help reduce gang violence. Attorney General Derek Schmidt and other state leaders announced the program at KCK Community College on Wednesday morning.
Agencies across the State of Kansas will take part in Gang Free Kansas. The program will make sure kids and adults know how gangs operate and what to look for.
“We’re never going to cure any of our criminal activity down to where we have zero rates, but I really think through educating parents of the warning signs of what to look for having our schools invoked, having law enforcement working together and being able to communicate more effectively I know we’re going to be able to tackle this more effectively,” said Lt. Kelli Baliff with the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office.
The program’s website has information including tips for families to watch for if they’re concerned that a child may be involved in gang activity. Click here for more information.
