Best Friend of Man who Conspired to Rape, Eat Kids Also Charged with Child Sex Crimes

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A suspected child pornographer’s best friend was arrested Thursday night, charged with the same sex crimes as his friend.

Federal agents arrested Robert Poe III of Kansas City, Kan., after finding him in Laredo, Texas. The criminal complaint against him reveals a victim told investigators that Poe and Michael Arnett abused him and his brother when they were children, even holding a gun to one boy’s head during sex.

According to court documents that were released in July, Michael Arnett, 38, of Roeland Park, Kan., and  another man, Ronald Brown, 57, of Largo, Florida, conspired to kidnap, torture, rape and murder children then cook the young victims’ body parts on a stove.

Poe is the second man connected to Arnett suspected of sex crimes against children.

In May, federal authorities charged Arnett with producing child pornography. Pictures found in Boston were traced to a camera he owned. Arnett was charged with producing child pornography and possessing child pornography. Police searched Arnett’s Roeland Park home and said they found photos of a boy less than two years old, naked, in a roasting pan.
