Dealing with Addiction

Journalist William Moyers, Junior will speak at a fundraising dinner for First Call on Wednesday, September 12th at Liberty Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri.  He will share his story of alcohol and drug addiction and his journey to recovery.

First Call helps metro families deal with alcohol/drug addiction and recovery by providing resources, contacts, support and education for addicts and family members.

Bill Moyers, Jr. grew up in a loving family, then married, had children and built a successful career as a journalist for the Dallas Times Herald and CNN.  That didn’t stop him from developing a nightmare drug addiction.  He began turning his life around after his father, journalist Bill Moyer, found him in a crack house in Atlanta and got him into treatment.

Bill Jr. got clean and sober and became a spokesman for Hazelden, one of the most well-known treatment centers in the country.
