Possible Hostage Situation Puts Schools on High Alert

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Police arrested a man who refused to surrender to them and forced two schools in the area into a “high alert” situation.

Central Middle School and Whittier Elementary in Kansas City, Kan., restricted traffic in and out of the schools after reports of a hostage situation. Students were allowed to come in but were not allowed to leave unless accompanied by a parent.
