CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Who knew cops could bust a move — especially while on duty, in the middle of the street?

Well, if you’re a traffic cop, the road is your stage and motorists are your audience. Why not take advantage of it? Five of Clayton County sheriff’s officers have. They’ve been busting out moves while directing traffic at the Democratic National Convention.

TheState.com reports the officers call it “traffic jammin.”

“We’re just having fun here,” Michael Johnson said in an interview with The State. “We don’t do this on a daily basis, but we’re having a good time and actually doing a good job.”

And while they’re proud to keep traffic moving, they’re also proud of their moves.

“They’re all impromptu, but we each kind of have a signature move that we’ve all come up with on our own,” Johnson said. His happens to b one with a flare of Michael Jackson. Another officer, Deputy William Cooley likes to hop on one foot backwards.

The officers said they’re having a blast — and that dancing helps keep them on their toes while on a post for 12 hours. Pedestrians and motorists are in favor of the dancing deputies.

“It’s awesome,” said Meka Vallier, who took a photo of the officers. “You never see cops let loose. They’re always so serious all the time, so it’s ice to see them shake their butts like this.”
