COLUMBIA -- Missouri football fans were just as excited as Georgia fans before their first SEC game on Saturday. The words used to describe the game were historic, monumental and awesome!
Mizzou fans wore black and gold. They shouted their school chants as they tailgated side by side with Georgia fans.
"Oh, it's incredibly exciting. I've been looking forward to this game all year. I mean this is a game to put on the calendar," said Mizzou fan Jamie Hackley.
"We're excited about the game and see it's a historic match up," said Georgia fan Dave Hines. "I think the other side probably views it the same way."
Many fans from both sides said win or lose, the game was a glimpse in to each team's season.
Some Georgia fans told FOX 4 that they stayed as far away as Jefferson City and Kansas City because all of the hotels in Columbia were booked.
