Leaders to Discuss Legalities In Statue Controversy
OVERLAND PARK, Kan.– City leaders plan to discuss the controversial statue at the Overland Park Arboretum Monday evening.
The statue features a partially clothed woman taking a photo of herself with a digital camera.
Opponents call it obscene and are asking a grand jury to investigate. The American Family Association and others who oppose the statue collected signatures to try to get a grand jury to convene to decide if the statue is obscene by Overland Park community standards.
Monday night the Overland Park City Council is scheduled to discuss the legal issues involved in the controversy over the statue.
