KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals have made arrangements to honor a worker who was shot in the parking lot of Kauffman Stadium last week.

Police say Renee Bruce’s boyfriend shot Bruce and then killed himself in the parking lot. She is in critical but stable condition.

The Royals plan to honor Bruce during a pre-game ceremony at the Royals’ final homestand, Oct. 1-3.

The team will also recognize co-workers who came to her aid immediately following the shooting. Fellow employees actually bound Bruce’s wound and comforted her until the ambulance arrived.

“The Royals ownership feels very strongly that even though it’s not an ideal thing to be highlighting before a game, it’s appropriate for us to at least recognize what they did to help her, said Toby Cook, Vice President-Community Affairs & Publicity. “The Royals are going to be behind her for a long time.”
