OAK GROVE, Mo. — Forget reality t-v. On Saturday, some future firefighters got a behind the scenes look at the Sni Valley Fire Protection District’s new fire station.

“We decided to have an open house to showcase our new facility, we have a new ladder truck,” said Shift Captain Jason Barnett.

The Sni Valley Fire Protection District moved from a two-man fire station to a larger state of the art facility across the street in May. A 2005 bond issue made the move possible.

“It’s always special, I mean this is their money that pays for the station here so obviously we want to show off what their tax money is going to the new trucks the new station what we’ve come from and where we are now,” said Firefighter Specialist Scott Hilton.

Saturday’s open house was a way to show the community they’re ready if they’re ever needed.

“We’re here so that they don’t have to worry about those things so that when they call, we’re there to help them for whatever it is they need,” Barnett said.

Firefighters say they’re on pace to respond to 2,000 calls this year.
