BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. — A quiet metro suburb was disrupted by sirens when a neighborhood dispute took a dangerous turn after someone used their car as a weapon police said.

Blue Springs police said an argument between two families led the driver of a truck to hit a man on a bike then dragged him down a neighborhood street.

Police said the 20-year-old man was intentionally dragged. Skid marks are still visible at the intersection of NW Kingsridge Court and NW Kingsridge Drive near Cantebury Street. Neighbors said they’re shocked by the incident.

“I know the boy on the bike, he rides up and down the street every day,” said Lareoy Gilbert. “Children go up and down the street every day and nobody ever bothers them.”

Gilbert said after he saw police outside he found out just how serious the situation was.

“The back wheel had a v shape, it was bent where it was hit by the truck,” he said.

He said he hopes he never sees something like that again. Especially since his street is usually pretty quiet.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is in custody and is awaiting formal charges.
