Police Recover Thousands of Pounds of Weed in Lenexa
LENEXA, Kan. — Police in Lenexa have uncovered thousands of pounds of cannabis — so much so that it could not all be transported to the Lenexa Police Department.
Police seized a approximately 2,700 pounds of marijuana from an industrial area in the 14000 block of W. 100 Street near Santa Fe Trail Drive in Lenexa, Kan. The investigation stemmed from a DEA investigation and arrest in Indianapolis, Ind.
Another arrest made in the Kansas City area facilitated the investigation. Lenexa police have been working with the DEA/Kansas City and DEA/Indianapolis on the joint investigation for a week.
Following the arrest in Indianapolis, undercover police investigated the facility. There, they found hundreds of boxes of plastic cups with the “Reyma” logo and brand. Once the boxes were opened, there were two bundles of marijuana per box with the plastic cup sleeves covering the illegal drugs. This was done to make the load appear legitimate.
Street value is estimated at $1.5 million. Details of the arrests will be released at a later time. More arrests are expected in this investigation as it continues.
