Woman’s Face Swells, Gets Infected After Spa Treatment
DORAL, Fla. — A woman in Florida is warning others to exercise the caution that she didn’t when she trusted a local spa to give her vitamin injections.
Isabel Gonzalez wanted a more youthful appearance to her face, but now she has infection, pain, and scarring.
“I told my mother, please take care of my children,” Gonzalez said. “I don’t think I am going to live.”
Fearing for her life, Gonzalez checked herself into the hospital in early August when the swelling in her face would not go down and the pain would not subside.
She’s spent a month and a half in the hospital undergoing 5 operations — all after a visit to Viviana’s Body Secrets Spa in Doral, Fla. this June.
“My face stayed swollen,” Gonzalez said. “You could barely see my eyes.”
She is now suing the owner of the spa, Vivian Ayala, who was arrested late last week.
Ayala’s spa in Florida has been shut down.
Ayala’s attorney is adamant her client only performed a facial on Gonzalez.
“She (Gonzalez) was never injected — not with vitamins, or any other type of substance,” Milena Abreu said. “Ms. Ayaya has been practicing for several years, and does not work with injections.”
Ayala is being charged with a slew of felonies, including practicing without a license and battery.
