Child Matching Missing Girl’s Description Spotted in Maine

DEXTER, Maine — Police in Maine say they have received multiple reports that a girl matching the description of missing Colorado 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway has been spotted in a pair of small towns.
Jessica Ridgeway has been missing since Friday, Oct. 5. Jessica’s mother did not realize her daughter never made it to school until later in the day. Jessica’s backpack was discovered Sunday, along with a water bottle.
According to the WABI, on Sunday, a woman called to report seeing a girl who looked like Jessica Ridgeway driving around in a light blue Buick with Colorado plates in the town of Dexter, Maine.
Police told WABI-TV that they received a similar report from the town of Harmony, which is about 15 miles away from Dexter. The caller reported a girl matching Ridgeway’s description in the same vehicle Sunday.

Ridgeway’s father lives in Independence, Mo., and has been cleared of any involvement in her disappearance. Her family in Missouri will hold a candle light vigil Wednesday at 6 p.m. at McCoy Park in Independence near 24 Hwy and Delaware Street.
